Start the year on a healthy note by joining the Palm Springs Health Run & Wellness Festival presented by the Desert Healthcare District & Foundation on Jan. 25. Now one of the largest events of its kind in Southern California, the event is produced by Hocker Productions will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.community.
The Wellness Festival has grown substantially since its inception more than 10 years ago and now boasts more than 80 health and wellness booths showcasing the latest in nutrition. There will be the KESQ News Channel 3 Food Challenge, a LifeStream blood drive and a rock climbing wall as well as yoga, tai chi, Zumba and aerobics classes. Local health organizations will also provide a variety of testing and vaccines, all for free.
Masters of ceremonies will include fitness experts Scott Cole, national aerobics champion and Abs of Steel spokesman, along with Scott Nevins, producer of the acclaimed “Cabaret 88” series at the Palm Springs Art Museum.
Pre-registration onsite and packet pick-up will take place Jan. 24 from noon to 4 p.m. at Ruth Hardy Park, 700 Tamarisk Road at Avenida Caballeros, and again on Jan. 25 from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The 5k Run begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 10k Run at 9:30 a.m., the 1k Fun Run at 10:30 a.m. and the bike ride at 11 a.m.
